In the pharmaceutical industry, modified starch can be used as diluent, absorbent, adhesive, wetting agent, disintegrating agent, etc. The annual consumption of denatured starch by disintegrating agent alone is 15000 tons, which is expected to reach 30000 tons by 2010. In addition, denatured starch is also widely used in clinical medicine.
